We still need more businesses to pledge their support, so if you know of any businesses looking for a Christmas contribution to make, send them our way! Have them e-mail knit@theprisonbirthproject.org

Our Second Knitathon to take place February 5th!

Well, we certainly learned a lot from last year's Knitathon. This year we'll be doing things a little differently.

Instead of a 3 month long, individual project, we'll be having a one-day Knitathon Extravaganza!

There will be a stash sale and projects for kids in addition to our Knitathon. Knitters are encouraged to sign up friends and family beforehand to pledge their support at the rate of one penny per stitch. Then come and see how much you can knit during the Knitathon! A fantastic prize will go to the knitter who knits the most. Another will go to the knitter with the most sponsors. Everyone will have a blast!

All knitted pieces will be attached into a long art piece that will be hung publicly in the community as a symbol of our celebration of all mothers everywhere. The names of knitters and sponsors will be listed next to the project.

We are still looking for a location, so if anyone has a public place that they think would be great for this event, let us know!

Stay posted for more details.

Squares Are Comin' In!

Hey Everyone!

Squares are starting to come in as people finish off their knitting. They're so beautiful, I wanted to share them with everyone.

Remember, if you still haven't signed up to knit, but have been thinking about it, we've extended our deadline to June 30th so there's still plenty of time for you to knit a square and collect some sponsors!

Thanks everyone for all your hard work so far. Keep the squares coming!

Knit-A-Thon Deadline extended

Hey Everyone!

I'm excited to announce that we have extended the deadline for our Knit-A-Thon. Instead of having our blanket assembly party May 20th, we're giving everyone until June 30th to make that final push and get as many pledges as they can to support mothers in the Pioneer Valley.

We will be having a knitting circle in May (TBA) and our blanket assembly party will most likely be the weekend of July 2nd. We'll keep you posted!

Thanks to all our fabulous knitters for making this project a success so far!

We still need knitters!

Hey everyone! So glad you made it to the PBP Knit-a-thon blog. We still need knitters, so if you knit or you know someone who knits, it's time you signed up!

Here's how it works:

Step 1: Make a suggested contribution of $20-$50 to ensure your commitment.
Step 2: We give you a skein of yarn care of WEBS America's Yarn Store and a packet with everything you need to collect sponsors to pledge their support as you knit a square.
Step 3: Knit a 12" by 12" square with any design you like. Meanwhile, collect sponsors to pledge their support at the rate of approximately one penny per stitch. This works out to be about $30.

To meet our goal of $10,000 we need our knitters to raise $300 per square. That might seem like a lot, but all you need to do is get 10 people to sponsor you and you're there! Plus, you have until May 20th to collect your pledges.

We will have a knitting circle (TBA) at some point in May, where all of the knitters can get together and meet each other. Then in June we will have our blanket assembly party, where we will put the squares together into baby blankets and tally up the whole fundraiser.

E-mail us at knit@theprisonbirthproject.org to sign up today!
And of course, visit us here to keep posted on any updates.
